Life and Travel series of videos coming in 2014.

Happy New Year!!!

New for this year will be the 'Life and Travel' series of videos coming later on this year. They will appear on the RWIMedia YouTube channel. 

Some initial IPhone movie clips have been uploaded and they give a good clue to what will be featured in the 'Life and Travel' series. More information later. Watch this space!

Travel and photography articles will appear on the realworldimages website. 

iPhone Photography

The iPhone 4S is proving fun to use as a camera and the results are looking respectable. The photos are sharp with lots of detail captured. Its 8MP sensor is not going to waste thanks to decent optics. 

It would be nice if the iPhone 4S provided customisation options for the camera as standard rather than having to rely on additional applications. Having said that, apps such as  Camera+, Pro Camera, and, Awesome Camera add some extra functionality. 

The iphone 4S with its 35mm focal length lens, close focusing capabilities, and a maximum ISO of 800 makes for some versatility without the need for further image processing via apps. 

There will be more about shooting with the iPhone 4S at RWI.

The new look RWI

Website realworldimages.co.uk has been rebuilt for improved presentation and navigation. New content will be added as soon as is possible but the development of the website will continue as required.  

The Gallery and Travel sections are very much a work in progress but the photos from the old galleries shall be back. Lots of interesting photography content is on its way. EA

The Sigma Corporation is pleased to announce the new SIGMA SD1 Merrill, the latest high resolution and high image quality digital SLR camera featuring a 46 megapixel (4800×3200×3 layers) FOVEON X3® direct image sensor.

The SIGMA SD1 Merrill is the flagship model which incorporates a full-colour FOVEON X3® direct image sensor. It adopts a lightweight yet solid magnesium alloy body along with buttons and connected parts sealed with O-rings, enhancing the durability as well as preventing dust and water from getting inside the camera. The Dual TRUE II processing engine and DDR III buffer ensure high speed processing of images without lowering the quality. About the generation-name “Merrill”

46 megapixel 23.5×15.7mm full-colour X3 Merrill sensor

The 23.5×15.7mm full-colour FOVEON X3® direct image sensor featured in the SIGMA SD1 Merrill, incorporates 46 effective megapixels (4,800×3,200×3 layers) and 44 recording megapixels (4,704×3,136×3 layers). The FOVEON X3® direct image sensor captures all primary RGB colours at each and every pixel location with 3 layers, ensuring the capture of full and complete colour. 

SIGMA Photo Pro 

The supplied image processing software, “SIGMA Photo Pro”, converts RAW data quickly and easily. While looking at photographed images, it is possible to render desired photographic expression by moving the slider from side to side. It incorporates functions such as a loupe, exposure picker, print, JPEG conversion, and batch white balance settings.

The SD1 Merrill will be available in the UK in mid March.
